Don’t show up at Pine Lake Covenant Church for Celebrate Recovery on Monday night, July 21st. It’s not because we don’t want to see you. On the contrary, we’d love to see you.
Instead join us at 6:00 for our annual summer picnic at Beaver Lake Park, where we have reserved a band shelter near the lake. (Park address: SE 24th Street @ 244th Avenue SE, Sammamish, WA.) This is a family affair; no meeting, just food, fun and fellowship.
There is no need to RSVP. However, if you decide to bring some food, please reply privately to email@example.com. Suggested food options are fried chicken, potato salad, other sides, watermelon, or dessert. We are supplying the drinks, plates, napkins and such.
Additional Recovery Resources for the Week
Just because we aren’t having an official CR meeting next week doesn’t mean you should put your recovery on hold. Remember to reach out to your sponsor and accountability partners. As your Brothers and Sisters in Christ, your support team is always available to you. And when you run into that inevitable situation where you don’t get a returned call as quickly as you want, remember that Jesus is always there walking beside you, and picking you up when you fall.
And since we aren’t having a meeting next week, we are sharing some other recovery related resources with you.
New Life Ministries is America’s #1 Christian counseling ministry. Stephen Arterburn hosts New Life Live, a weekday call-in program, and co-hosted by other nationally known Christian authors and psychologists like Dr. Henry Cloud, Dr. John Townsend and Rev. Milan Yerkovich. (Drs. Cloud and Townsend speak annually at the Celebrate Recovery Summit at Saddleback Church and are true friends and supporters of the ministry.) Locally, New Life Live is broadcast on 820 AM KGNW at 1 PM PST or can also be streamed online.
New Life Ministries also has lots of valuable resources on their site, including daily posts related to the show, like the most recent broadcast on July 17th, or other recovery topics. Archives of past shows are posted at http://newlife.com/broadcasts.
Below are some recent New Life devotionals:
Another resource that is aligned with Celebrate Recovery is the work of Milan and Kay Yerkovich, authors of How We Love. Here’s a sample of a recent post that helps Christians to determine if seeing a psychiatrist is necessary, 4 Lenses of Diagnosing Problems. Their blog posts are published weekly on Milan & Kay’s blog.
These and other valuable articles and information are now being posted regularly on the Celebrate Recovery on the Plateau Facebook page. As always, check there or on the right sidebar of our site for the most recent meeting updates and inspirational posts to support you on your recovery journey. You can like us at https://www.facebook.com/CRontheplateau. If CR has helped you, please pass on our blog updates or share us on Facebook.
And if you live locally, we hope to see you Monday night, July 21, at 6:00 at the picnic!
